About Us

HAT.tec is an internationally operating software start-up in the fields of aviation and defense. We are convinced that the future lies in the collaboration between humans and machines — known as Human Autonomy Teaming.

Our focus is on the development and application of technologies for the collaborative and coordinated deployment of manned and unmanned systems (Manned-Unmanned Teaming), always keeping people at the center.

Our technology is built for those operating in complex, safety-critical environments: pilots, operators, crew members, and decision-makers who work every day to ensure safety and freedom for others.

Our mission is to develop intelligent, human-centered software solutions that support critical operations — and make a visible difference where it matters most.

And this is where you come in:

To strengthen our team, we are looking for an experienced and dedicated Bench & Simulator Engineer (m/f/d) who will take technical ownership of our bench, testing, and simulator landscape.

In this role, you will design scalable and reproducible integration and simulation environments and ensure a consistent technical foundation across various projects. You will work closely with Software Development, Product Management, Field Solutions, and customer-facing teams to create stable environments for integration, verification, demonstrations, and training.

Your Responsibilities

  • Architecture, design, and continuous development of bench, test, and simulator systems.
  • Establishment and maintenance of reproducible and version-controlled environments.
  • Definition and enforcement of technical standards for setups, configurations, and integration.
  • Support and supervision of complex system integrations and commissioning activities.
  • Ensuring the stability, availability, and maintenance of bench and simulator systems.
  • Analysis and resolution of complex cross-system issues, including root-cause analysis.
  • Management and maintenance of simulation data, scenarios, and release configurations.
  • Technical coordination with internal teams as well as management of external suppliers and components.

Your Profile

  • Successfully completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a comparable qualification.
  • Several years of experience in system integration, test benches, simulators, or testing environments.
  • Experience in mechanical design and the development of technical prototypes, ideally using 3D printing technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of complex hardware/software systems and interfaces (e.g., ARINC 429, Ethernet, discretes).
  • Experience in configuration and release management.
  • Understanding of reproducible and scalable development environments.
  • Strong analytical and structured working style.
  • High level of personal responsibility and strong technical decision-making skills.
  • Very good written and spoken English skills; German language skills are an advantage.
